We’re in Cairo!
Well folks we arrived in Cairo last night after a relatively uneventful trip from Oz, (apart from the mandatory lard arse who insists on delaying the aircraft departure for 15 minutes while they block the aisle and load 73 bags of duty free into every nook and cranny of every overhead locker in their section) however to arrive in Cairo is something else, there are 20 million people in Cairo, 19 million of whom were out in their cars (I use the term car advisedly) as we were trying to get to our hotel!!
The arrivals area was an absolute hoot and immigration and customs virtually non existant, except to delay you long enough to gouge some shekles from you. Baggage collection was a mind blowing experience but luckily we were waylayed by a very smart suited bandit named Raoul ( I kid you not) who promised to make all things right for us. Raoul took us to meet (you’ll never believe this one) Osama Bin Tourist Bandit, who within 15 minutes had relieved me of several thousand shekles in return for a ride to our hotel and numerous trips, Pyramids, Mosques, Museum etc., all with private car and guide, also included is the night light and laser show at the pyramids and also a dinner cruise up the proverbial Nile.
We are to be accompanied all of the time by our guide (you guessed it) Achmed. So all in all even though I know I’ve been shafted royaly up the back passage we are quite happy to have most of our time here sorted. As for our hotel, well that’s another matter, 2.5 stars would adequately describe it and when we get to somewhere where there is a decent connection I’ll post some snaps.
Anyway off in 10 for our first trip to the Pyramids with a souk or two thrown in, so far it’s a real eye opener and such a buzz, we haven’t stopped laughing since we arrived apart from Ros shreiking with terror on the journey in the cab last night, bedlam is the only way to describe it and I suspect it will be much the same today.
So loves you all, keep smiling and stay tuned. Thinking of you all and wish you were all here with us.

We’re glad you’re safe and having a good time. It’s absolutely pouring here. Hasn’t stopped all weekend… well maybe for five minutes!
All is well at Sapphire. Sofa’s arrive tomorrow, will feel like a home then, and perhaps the acoustics will be better.
Going back for another glass of red. Thinking of you. Take care,
Alex & Jules

Glad to hear all is running so smoothly with no hitches – always knew this would be the case with all you pre planning skills
Hope Achmed does not rip you off too badly and enjoy Cairo and the Pyramids
Snooker tomorrow so Art and I will do our best
Hi Malcolm
Have just looked at your blog ( us English always arrive a little later than you ozzies ), and see that you have finally decided to spend some money on ‘her indoors’. Knowing that it is your 40th wedding anniversary year, all we can say is “you f*cking smoothie”
Seriously, congratulations on making it this far and we wish you the very best of luck on the rest of your journey.
When are you going to reach Paris? Sandra and I might very well get out there and meet up with you ( if that’s not going to spoil any sexual activity you might have in mind ).
Email us soon if you get the chance.
Congratulations again.
Love and Love
Joe & Sandra
We wish we were there seeing and experiencing Pyramids, Achmeds and Camels and cant wait to read the ongoing journeys. Stay safe
Sounds like Cairo was all you expected it to be and cant wait to see the pics of the Aussie version of Fatima doing her belly dance
Art and I thrashed the boys last night so they are not happy
Look forward to hearing from you in gay Parie
